Marathon swimming has been described as euphoric misery. And misery sometimes loves company.
Marathon Swimmers Forum created and managed by Evan Morrison and Donal Buckley enables the company of marathon swimmers to share their stories, advice and experiences with like-minded swimmers. The virtual community is growing and has connected and empowered marathon swimmers like never before.
The new World Open Water Swimming Offering of the Year award is meant to identify products and services that (1) best support and assist open water swimmers achieve their goals, (2) are innovative, unique and beneficial to open water swimmers, race directors, coaches or administrators, and (3) have made the most positive impact on the world of open water swimming during the calendar year.
The nominations are meant to recognize some of the best and innovative commercial and free offerings that open water swimmers can enjoy.
Extreme swimmers, disabled swimmers, ice swimmers, marathon swimmers, professional swimmers, administrators, coaches, pilots, and swimmers from all walks of life have used, purchased and benefited from an increasingly number of products and services introduced over the few years.
The nomination of the Marathon Swimmers Forum reads,
"The Marathon Swimmers Forum is an online platform that provides an opportunity for marathon swimmers to express their opinions, offer advice, seek education and give encouragement to other like-minded athletes. Its mission is focused and its members are intensely passionate individuals whose common thread is a passion for swimming without wetsuits, without assistance, and without limitations. The well-designed Marathon Swimmers Forum raises issues and asks questions that are expertly moderated by channel swimmers Evan Morrison and Donal Buckley.
